Assamese
Indian language of the Indo-Iranian family, spoken by the inhabitants of the Indian state of Assam. The language is closely related to the Oriya and Bengali languages. Assamese is spoken in the valley of the Brahmaputra River, from the borders of Koch Bihâr in the west to Dibrugarh in the east. 14,604,000 or more in all countries; a few in Bangladesh.
