Belorussian
Belorussian remains to be the closest tongue to Russian and represents a purely East Slavic language with all its flexions, the case system, and verb structure.  There are about 10,000,000  speakers in; Belarus,  Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrghyzstan, Latvia, Lithuania, Russia, Turkmenistan, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, USA, Poland, Estonia & Moldova.  Cyrillic alphabet used. Linguistically between Russian and Ukrainian, with transitional dialects to both.
