Choctaw
Choctaw has about 9,000 speakers
including 80 monolinguals out of 25,000 population. Language use is vigorous in
Mississippi. The Houma are 12,000 racially mixed descendents of a Choctaw
subgroup in southern Louisiana who speak 'broken French', and no longer speak
Choctaw.
