Creole/Seychelles - Seselwa
SESELWA
68,400 speakers. Seychelles French based creole dialect is reported to be the
same as Chagos. Structural differences with Mauritius are relatively minor. Not
adequately intelligible with Reunion Creole. It is gaining rapidly in status. It
is heard everywhere on the streets, in the shops and homes. The first 4 years of
education are in Seselwa. Used for some subjects for 5 more years. The native
language of virtually all its citizens
