Kannada
Kannada is the language of the people of
the Karnataka sate of southern India. At
the 1991 census Karnataka had a population of 44,977,201. The average population
density was 234 persons per sq km (607 per sq mi). The capital of Karnataka is Bangalore .
Mysore
is the state's other important city. The people of Karnataka are mainly
Dravidians, descendants of the original inhabitants of India. Kannada, the
official language of Karnataka, is spoken by more than 70 percent of the
population; Hindi is often used for business.
