Santali
Santali (Santhali) is an Austro_asiatic
language. It is an aboriginal language in North India. It can be
written in any of the [*]Latin, [*]Devanagari, [*]Bengali or [*]Oriya scripts.
In reaction to this situation, a new script called Ol Chiki been recently
devised, and is being taught in schools in various parts of India where Santali
is spoken.
There are nearly 6,000,000 total
speakers of Santali. The largest concentration is in North India, with
smaller concentrations in; Bangladesh & Nepal.
