Sinhala
Sinhala is an
Indo-Aryan language spoken in Sri Lanka. It is genetically related to such major
South Asian languages as Hindi and Bengali. As a descendant of Sanskrit, the
language of the Mahabharatha and Ramayana, Sinhala is also related to European
languages such as Greek and Latin and, by implication, a host of other languages.
This is the national language of Sri
Lanka, where is is spoken by over 13 million. There are also speakers in:
UAR, & Maldives.
